Laowa is adding a new 65mm T2.4 and 80mm T2.4 to its Nanomorph series, alongside a 1.33X Front Anamorphic Adapter. An Indiegogo campaign will begin on the 29th of August and is currently open for pre-launch subscription.

The 65mm T2.4 and 80mm T2.4 join the existing focal lengths of 27mm, 35mm, and 50mm.

The Nanomorph 65mm and 80mm have the same constant 1.5X squeeze ratio across all focus distances as the rest of the available focal lengths. They will also be available in 3 flare options (Blue, Amber, and a neutral Silver).

All the lenses in the series are compact for anamorphic offerings with a 1.5x squeeze which makes them suitable for use when shooting handheld, on a gimbal, on a slider, or mounted on a drone.

Venus Optics is having an Indiegogo campaign which is set to launch on August 29, 2023, at GMT 14:00 (EDT 10:00).

Apart from the new lens additions, there’s also the 1.33X Front Anamorphic adaptor that we first saw at Cine Gear 2023 back in June. It can turn the Nanomorph into a 2X anamorphic lens, or you may also pair it with other spherical lenses.

If you are using a full frame lens, the adapter will work with any focal length over about 40mm. The Anamorphic adapter was still a prototype and they are still refining the design. Laowa hopes to be able to cover a 35mm full-frame prime without any large vignetting.

The Laowa 1.33x Anamorphic Adapter can also be screwed directly onto the front of the Ranger Full Frame Cine zooms.

You will be able to buy the 1.33x Anamorphic Adapter in three versions just like the Nanomorphs. These versions will have either Blue, Gold, or Silver flares. What is interesting is that you could combine the adapter with say a Gold flare with a Nanomorph that has a Silver flare to alter the streak characteristics and color.
